Join us to celebrate all MFR members with birthdays in September, October, and November. We will have cake, sing happy birthday, and do a birthday craft.  NOTE: Our events rely on volunteers! If no one volunteers to help with an event, it will be cancelled. 

Members are required to attend one room cleaning annually. Room cleaning attendance is organized by the first letter of your last name. Members with last names that start with M-R are responsible for this room cleaning. If you cannot attend your cleaning please email Maintenance & Supplies Coordinator, Katie Skarzynski, at maintenance@melrosefamilyroom.org.

Looking to clean out your kids' closets and book shelves and get something new? Participate in the MFR fall clothing and book exchange! Bins will be placed in the MFR two weeks before the exchange to collect any clothes, shoes, accessories, and books in good condition that your children have outgrown. On September 28th and 29th, all donated items will be available to members to select and take home. Any books and clothing leftover after the exchange will be donated to Mothers Helping Mothers in Malden (http://maldenps.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/MothershelpingMothers.pdf). 

Join fellow MFR members and Spider-man at Volunteer Park to welcome new members and celebrate the start of another membership year. Enjoy some ice cream while Spider-man entertains the kids and makes balloon animals. In case of rain, the party will relocate to Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church .       

We will be holding a mandatory New Member Orientation on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7pm. Please note that this is an adult-only night (newborns/non-crawling infants are welcome). If there is another caregiver/nanny/babysitter who will be bringing your child(ren) to the room, please feel free to invite them to attend, too. Please plan to attend this meeting to pick up your member materials and room key, get a brief tour of the space, discuss your member responsibilites, and meet other new members. Members of the MFR Board will also be on hand to welome you and answer any questions you may have. Prior to this event, we ask that you do the following: Please consider bringing a printed family photo with you (approximately 4x6) to be posted on our member bulletin board or email one to: newmembers@melrosefamilyroom. org Review the New Member Handbook (this wil be sent in a separate email prior to the Orientation). Pay your room key deposit fee ($25) - you should be invoiced for this shortly following membership signup. The Melrose Family Room will be closed from Sunday August 11, 2019 through Saturday August 17, 2019 for our annual deep cleaning. The room will not be available for members to use at this time.      

Join us for a monthly playgroup. Bring the kids to the MFR for coffee and member bonding. This is also an easy way to fulfill your volunteer requirement. Volunteers will be asked to bring the coffee and manage the meet-up. (Please help us coordinate by registering below, one ticket per adult and child attending!)
