Bring your littles over to the Melrose Family Room for a special Sunday Funday Storytime.  We are so excited to host a storytime with our friends at Loving Little Minds.  Loving Little Minds is a local nonprofit organization that provides free and subscription-based monthly children's multicultural books to kids ages 0-6 to battle systemic racism and empower our littles to envision a more just future for all. We will have a local author come and read her powerful kid-friendly story about food, family and connection.  She will then lead a craft so our littles can take the cross-cultural and multi-generational story highlight home with them.  Please register all of your littles so that we can have the appropriate materials for crafts.  

Looking to connect with other parents and caregrivers? Maybe you want some more interaction for your kiddos? Stop by the Melrose Family Room on Monday morning between 8:30-10:30 for our free, drop-in playgroup! Come to an end of summer gathering and meet our MFR community at the Hall Memorial Pool and Splash Pad! The Hall Memorial Pool in Stoneham has graciously allowed MFR members early entry at 9 a.m. (before its open to the public!). Kids get in FREE, adults are $3/person.  Please register!

Attention all Melrose Family Room Members! Let's celebrate summer together... Join as at the Lincoln Elementary School playground on Sunday July 9th from 4 to 6pm for FREE HOT DOGS AND ICE CREAM! We have Kayem Foods sponsoring our hot dogs and an ice cream truck coming with all kinds of delicious frozen treats to make your tummy happy during a hot Summer day here in beautiful Melrose. Activity alert! On Saturday, 4/8, at 10a.m., Lihlani Skipper Nelson and Oliva Cerf will be hosting a pea planting activity at the MFR's community garden bed! Bring a lil' shovel for your kiddo if you've got one; if not, we'll share. ***The Melrose Community Garden is located in Franklin Field behind the Whole Foods/CVS/Kennedy's Ice Cream plaza and the Franklin School. (Google Map in the link. You can actually see the rows of garden beds in the image near Albion St.) It's easiest to park at the back of Kennedy's and walk through the fields.

The MFR will be hosting a Friendship/Valentine's Day party on Sunday, 2/12, at 3 p.m.***Come in your finest princess outfits or your coolest spidy costume or whatever you love most. We'll have snacks and heart themed crafts <3 <3 <3  Please RSVP so we know how much food to get. Also, if you would like to volunteer to bring snacks, decor, or your time to clean up after the party, please email me at events@melrosefamilyroom.org.  ***The original email had the party begin at 10 a.m.. Join us for a viewing of Toy Story 4 at 3pm and A Bug's Life at 4:30pm.  Popcorn will be provided for this double feature matinee!  No food or drinks are allowed on the carpeted area of the Family Room.     Feel free to bring your own food and drinks to enjoy in the tiled area.  Also feel free to bring small kiddie chairs or blankets to sit on in the carpeted area. 60 people will be our limit so the room doesn't get too crowded.  1 person per ticket.  RSVP today!
